    The Aalborg Portland Architecture Contest:

Another important event happened during the Aalborg Portland Day. The announcement of the Aalborg Portland Architecture Contest !!

Based on the “envisioning the green building habitat of the future” topic, APAQ cooperated with Tongji University to organize the Aalborg Portland Architecture Scholarship Contest, which is co-sponsored by Bjarke Ingels Group, with the support of Danish Consulate Shanghai and Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The participants will define KEY CONCEPTS of Green Building, also known as green construction or sustainable building, by creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from design to construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and deconstruction. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort, by defining a list of ideas in relation with buildings and the city of the future, to generate a vision of this idealistic possibility.

The winner of the contest will have a 3 months internship at Bjarke Ingels Group with RMB30,000 and Economy return airfare Shanghai-Copenhagen sponsored by Aalborg Portland !!!

The deadline for proposals submission is Aug. 31st 2010. The winner will be announced on 29th Sep. 2010 during the Second Aalborg Portland Day in Danish pavilion - Shanghai

    2010 World Expo.

Winner and Runner up projects will be exhibited at the Nordic Light House for the month of October.

APAQ is looking forward in giving their contribution and being a bridge between Danish and Chinese for the continuous growth of a Green and Sustainable Urbanization for all Chinese to enjoy a better life!

    Danish pavilion Sponsorship:

APAQ’s relationship and cooperation with the Danish government has always been very strong. It is a very old company (established in 1889) in Denmark and was recently given the Heritage Status by the Danish Government. They felt that, having been present in the Chinese market since 2004, being one of the sponsors of the Danish Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo was an ideal opportunity to support government efforts in promoting Danish Culture and Green Building expertise in China. The contribution as sponsor can be seen on the outdoor floor of the Danish Pavilion as it is made with APAQ White Cement.

As a cement producer APAQ is very conscious of the environmental impact of plant. APAQ therefore designed its new White Cement plant, which started operations in November 2009, making sure it had the lowest CO2 emission possible. APAQ is proud to say that its plant emits 30% less CO2 than any other White Cement plant in China and by international GET standard, APAQ products are considered Green Building Materials.

The theme for the pavilion is “welfairytales” and is based on the principle of that experience promotes understanding. The fairytales encircles around three main topics, namely tales of how Danes live, what Danes love and the future direction of Denmark. The first topic shows how Danes structure their daily life and how to create cities focusing on high quality life and sustainability. The second topic depicts what Danes sees as making life worth living and how urban planning can ensure opportunities for growth and happiness. The final tale shows the vision for a joint Danish and Chinese future, where cooperation within the fields of technology and knowledge can improve life in the cities of the future. APAQ relates to those tales as they are strong believers and supporters of urban planning that enhance quality of living and create opportunities. Together with their local partners they are sure to grow in the future, providing the best possible environment for a constantly improving life for all Chinese.

    APAQ Slogan:

    “Simply White!”

“Simply” by using “White Cement”, with modern technology, it can create countless exciting possibilities full of light, clear colors and beautiful consistent surfaces. This applies for large and small buildings, bridges, indoor and outdoor. “White” Cement is “Simply” the answer to all questions since it can be used for Artistic, Structural and Civil Engineering purposes.
